These are photocopies of his diaries, the Historical Society of Palm Beach County does not have the originals. There is also a copy of miscellaneous meeting notes signed by McPhee 1904, Order of American Boy.

Karl describes the activities of he his twin brother Kenyon and parents Leon H. and Harriet, as well as friends and other family as he grew up in Kansas. They include his schooling, music studies, hunting, sports, games, movies and weather, jobs and activities after he left school, including early survey and engineering work. There are descriptions of trips to Abiline, Topeka KS and Colorado, the northeast and Canada and mention of the San Francisco earthquake in 1906.
